Merima Birkhimer

Merima Birkhimer has extensive experience in bioinformatics and software development, currently serving as a Bioinformatics Team Lead and Scientific Product Owner at Genentech since June 2011. In this role, Merima collaborates with scientific and informatics leadership to establish data management strategies for preclinical R&D data, working closely with toxicologists, pathologists, and other scientists to develop large-scale scientific systems that enhance predictive sciences capabilities. Prior roles include Senior Consultant at IDBS, where Merima led the Genentech ELN Implementation project, and Assay Development Specialist at Singulex, focusing on single-molecule-detection immunoassays. Earlier experience comprises Research Associate III at Dynavax Technologies and Quality Control Chemist II at Bio-Rad Laboratories. Merima holds a B.A. in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.S. in Biostatistics from California State University - East Bay.
