Michael Kurnellas

Michael Kurnellas is an accomplished scientist with extensive experience in neuroscience and translational medicine. Currently serving as a Senior Principal Scientist and Lab Head in Translational Medicine OMNI Neuroscience at Genentech since August 2025, Michael previously held the position of Director, Discovery Biology at Neuron23 from May 2023 to August 2025. Prior roles include Associate Director of Neuroimmunology, as well as various positions such as Staff Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist II at Alector from January 2016 to April 2023. Michael's academic background includes a PhD in Neuroscience from Rutgers University and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, a Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and a Bachelor of Arts in Neuroscience from Drew University.
