Shawntay Chaney is a scientific manager and in vivo lead for preclinical ocular models with extensive expertise in ocular and retinal neurobiology. They hold a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Houston and have worked as an ocular scientist at UNITY Biotechnology, where they developed murine models of ocular disease and led a team of junior scientists. Shawntay also gained experience as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on melanopsin ganglion cell responses, and has a background in investigating gestational lead exposure effects on retinal development during their graduate studies. Currently, they work at Genentech in ophthalmology and translational immunology.
