Kurt Boehm

Center Head: Cryogenic Systems at General Atomics

Kurt Boehm is an experienced engineering professional currently serving as the Center Head for Cryogenic Systems at General Atomics since July 2009, where responsibilities include enhancing efficiency through robotics, automation, and machine learning technologies. Previously, Kurt held roles as Project Engineer for NIF Target Fabrication and Cryogenic Systems Engineer, focusing on the timely delivery of designs and upgrades to improve performance and reduce failure rates. Prior to General Atomics, Kurt was a Graduate Student Researcher at the University of California, San Diego, where work concentrated on the challenges of producing fuel pellets for a fusion power plant and the feasibility of using pulsed lasers for thermonuclear reactions. Kurt Boehm holds a PhD in Engineering Science and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego, as well as a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
