Sharon Dean has a strong background in communications and marketing, with a career spanning over four decades. Sharon started their career in 1973 as the Manager of Marketing Support at Southwestern Company, where they worked for 34 years until 2007. In 2007, they joined the General Council on Finance & Administration as the Director of Communications & Marketing, where they made significant contributions in expanding their role as the agency spokesperson and establishing inclusive language and behaviors within the organization. Sharon served in this role for 10 years until 2017, when they were promoted to the Chief Officer of Communications and Marketing at the General Council on Finance and Administration of The United Methodist Church.
Sharon Dean completed their High School Diploma at Pearl High School from 1964 to 1968. Sharon then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree with a focus on Sociology/Psychology at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) between 1968 and 1972. Later, they obtained a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from Trevecca Nazarene University from 2011 to 2013.
