David Winks is a seasoned professional with significant experience in policy management and oversight, currently serving as Regulation Policy Manager at the General Medical Council since August 2017. Winks has previously held various roles, including Chair of Tennis at OLD COLLEGE LAWN TENNIS & CROQUET CLUB LIMITED and Committee Services Manager at The Royal College of Psychiatrists. During a tenure at the UK Department of Health from July 2005 to January 2017, Winks worked as European Union Policy Manager, coordinating EU-related business and representing the UK at EU meetings. Additional roles included Assistant Research Policy Manager, Assistant Chief of Staff to the Chief Medical Officer for England, Freedom of Information Officer, and Correspondence Officer. Winks holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from Queen Mary University of London, as well as a Master’s degree from Birkbeck, University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree from Cardiff University.
