Paul Spindler has extensive experience in strategic communications and engagement. Paul has held various roles at the General Medical Council, starting as a Communications Project Manager in 2008. In this role, they led communications programs for the introduction of medical revalidation and the license to practice for doctors. Paul then became the Head of Relationships and Campaigns, where they established a communications planning function and conducted a review of the GMC's strategy. Paul later served as the Head of Media and Campaigns, leading a team to improve the organization's strategic messaging and media relations. Paul also worked as an Assistant Director, designing a new relationship strategy and securing investment for a strategic relationships team. In their most recent role as Head of Development and Operations, they led the GMC's Strategic Communications and Engagement Directorate, focusing on capability development, risk management, and measurement of communications impact. Prior to joining the GMC, they held roles at the Royal College of Nursing, St Georges Healthcare NHS Trust, and the Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire Strategic Health Authority.

Paul Spindler attended Ardingly College from 1990 to 1995, where they did not pursue a degree or field of study. Following that, they studied at the University of Hull from 1995 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Drama.
