V. Barry Walkup

V. Barry Walkup has extensive experience in automotive engineering and management, primarily at General Motors since November 1998. Currently serving as Senior Manager of GM Proving Grounds Operations, Walkup oversees the engineering operations at multiple testing facilities. Previous roles include General Manager of Global Show Vehicle & Product Durability Testing Operations and Global Vehicle Chief Engineer for extended range electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles. Walkup has also held positions as Global Vehicle Performance Manager for luxury and full/mid-size cars, as well as roles managing vehicle dynamics and performance in emerging markets. Early career experience includes lead development engineer for mid-size trucks and technical roles in vehicle dynamics and chassis engineering. Education includes a Bachelor of Science from Indiana State University.
