Carlo Ferraresi

Group Chief Risk Officer at Generali

Mr Ferraresi graduated with honours in Political Science from the University of Padua and holds an MBA from the SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan.

He started his career at the Group between 1990 and 1995, first as an underwriter in the Marine division of the UK branch of Assicurazioni Generali, and later on the staff of the Chief Executive Officer, coordinating the Administration and Finance area.

He then became head of Risk Financing at the Marsh Group, and was responsible for financial advisory services for the main Italian insurance and banking groups, first as a senior director at Arthur Andersen and then at Deloitte. He also served as a senior banker at ABN Amro and managing director Financial Institutions Group at Crédit Agricole Corporate & Investment Bank.

Mr Ferraresi’s career then continued at Cattolica Assicurazioni, where he held increasingly important roles before becoming CEO and General Manager in 2019. He first joined Cattolica Assicurazioni in 2012 as Chief Financial Officer, before being appointed Deputy General Manager with responsibility for Investments, Investor Relations Officer and head of M&A and equity investments and, later, General Manager Markets and Distribution Channels of Cattolica Assicurazioni with responsibility for the agency network, Bancassurance and Strategic Marketing.

Mr Ferraresi is currently a Member of the Italian Corporate Governance Committee and a Member of the Advanced Education and National and International Research Committee of the UNESCO Chair of “Future of Education for Sustainability” (Pontificia Università Lateranense, Rome), as well as a Member of the Planning Committee of the Research Center on Technology, Innovation and Financial Services (CeTIF) at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan.
