Matt Abbott

Matt Abbott is currently a Trustee at Genesis HealthCare System. Matt has previously worked as a Community Relations Specialist at WellCare Health Plans and an In Reach Specialist at Cardinal Innovations Healthcare.

At WellCare, Matt was responsible for educating the population on their rights as individuals living with mental health and substance abuse disorders per the DHHS/DOJ Settlement agreement. Matt also managed a caseload of 150 members, visiting them every 90 days to check in and provide updates to the NC state databases.

At Cardinal Innovations, Matt's responsibilities included advocating for the rights of those with mental health and substance abuse disorders, educating them on their options, and making referrals tobehavioral healthcare providers. Matt also attended regular trainings to stay updated with the demand of the Medicaid Managed Care and DHHS.

Matt Abbott is passionate about their work and dedicated to helping those with mental health and substance abuse disorders. Matt is a valuable asset to any team and will continue to make a positive impact in the lives of those they meet.

Matt Abbott's educational career began at Stanly Community College (SCC), where they earned their certification from the University of North Carolina School of Social Work as a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
