Krystal Smith, MSN, RN has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Krystal started their career as a Clinical Nurse at Providence Hospital in 2006, providing direct nursing care and education in an ambulatory surgery center. Krystal then moved on to MedStar Washington Hospital Center where they worked as a Clinical Nurse I, II, and III from 2004 to 2010. In 2010, they became a Utilization Review Nurse at Providence Hospital, performing clinical reviews and communicating with insurance companies. From 2011 to 2020, they worked at Kaiser Permanente as a Patient Care Coordinator, orienting and educating patients and families on plans of care. Currently, they are serving as the Lead Care Transitions Nurse at Genesis, overseeing regional team activity and ensuring efficient processing of referrals.
Krystal Smith, MSN, RN obtained their Master's degree in Nursing Informatics from Chamberlain University in 2017. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Howard University in 2004. Krystal holds additional certifications in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) from the American Heart Association, obtained in October 2019, and as a Registered Nurse in the DC and MD compact states, obtained in 2004.
