Sarah Valdez-Tate has a diverse work experience background. Sarah began their career in 2003 as an Orientation Advisor at the University of Texas at Austin. From there, they worked as an English as a Foreign Language Teacher at the Instituto Mexico-Americano de Cultura before becoming an English as a Second Language Instructor at Capitol City Careers. Sarah then transitioned to Goodwill Central Texas, where they served as an Employment Specialist and Case Manager for seven years. In 2014, they became a Community Volunteer and was involved in community organizing until 2018. During this time, they also worked as an Activities Coordinator/On-Site Social Worker at Portfolio Resident Services. Currently, Sarah is serving as the Administrative Director at Genesis Women's Shelter & Support.

Sarah Valdez-Tate earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Austin in the years 2002 to 2006.
