Selvon Waldron

Executive Director, National Capital Region at Genesys Works

Selvon Waldron is the current Executive Director of the National Capital Region at Genesys Works. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Student Services at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School from October 2016 to May 2021. In this role, they led the Student Services strategy to ensure positive student growth and development, supported teachers in achieving whole student goals, and facilitated student surveys and student discussions to ensure student voice was heard. Selvon also developed changes to and monitored implementation of Student Handbooks, and managed fiscal resources from department fund budgets and monitored maintenance of department resources.

During their tenure at Carlos Rosario International Public Charter School, Selvon led a team who implemented and executed the vision/strategy for services ranging from Case Management, Counseling, Employability, Student Life, Civil Engagement, and College Access. Selvon also supported the Scholarship Fund and scholarship fundraising, led a team focused on advising and educating students/alumni on implementing their college access steps, and led a team in developing college access and career exposure programs. In addition, Selvon collected data to establish baselines and monitored student development and success skills growth, wrote reports that advocated for new ways of approaching challenges in higher education, and received individual recognition during their tenure including the William Kellibrew Foundation - Community Service Award and the Mayor's Office on Latino Affairs - Education Award (Finalist).

Selvon Waldron studied Minority and Urban Education at the University of Maryland, where they earned their Master of Arts degree. Selvon also holds a Graduate Certificate in Education Policy and Program Evaluation from Georgetown University. Selvon Waldron has a Master of Business Administration degree in International Business from the University of the District of Columbia, and they have completed Executive Leadership Training at Leadership Greater Washington. Selvon has also completed a course in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at American University. Selvon Waldron's undergraduate degree is in Business Management from the University of the District of Columbia.
