Chief Scientific Officer | Head of RnD Division at Genoplan

Byung-Chul Lee has worked in the field of healthcare for over a decade. Byung-Chul began their career in 2009 as a Staff at IBM Korea, where they developed a reporting system to authorized offices about experiencing adverse drug effects based on their genetic variation and conducted analysis of RNA-seq of gastric cancer. In 2011, they joined SK telecom as a Manager, where they developed NGS pipeline and variant calling algorithms, as well as NGS based business models. In 2016, they became the Leader of Clinical Data Analysis Department at Macrogen. In 2020, they were appointed as Executive Director at invites healthcare and Bioinformatics Engineer at 3billion. Most recently, in 2021, they were appointed as Chief Scientific Officer and Head of RnD Division at Genoplan.

Byung-Chul Lee obtained a Bachelor's degree in Life Science and Computer Science (double major) from Korea University between 1994 and 2003. Byung-Chul then went on to complete their Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology between 2003 and 2009.
