Josiah McClurg has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and companies. Josiah started their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at the University of Iowa, where they developed a power quality monitor USB module, designed a pitch controller for a small wind turbine, and completed a power curve analysis. Josiah then worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Iowa, investigating the effects of energy storage, demand response, and wind penetration on reserve margin planning.

After that, Josiah joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Research Assistant, where they designed and implemented power distribution systems for energy-efficient server clusters. Josiah also worked as a Teaching Assistant for various courses. During this time, they designed and built a small-footprint multiphase DC-DC converter and a distributed controller for voltage equalization.

Josiah later became a STEM Camp Instructor at Kirkwood Community College and a Lego Robotics Camp Instructor at Champaign Park District and the Orpheum Children's Science Museum. Josiah also worked as an English Oral Proficiency Interviewer at the University of Illinois - Center for Teaching Excellence.

Josiah's academic career continued at Taylor University, where they held multiple positions. Josiah started as an Assistant Professor of Engineering, developing new courses and leading grant-funded undergraduate research projects. Josiah then became a Co-Chair and Assistant Professor of Engineering, where they took on additional responsibilities such as faculty and staff hiring, managing staff, strategic planning, and STEM outreach.

Most recently, Josiah joined WayBe, Inc as an Electrical Engineering Consultant, focusing on HVAC R&D. And they are currently working as a Software Developer IV at Genova Technologies.

Throughout their career, Josiah has demonstrated a strong academic background and a passion for research, teaching, and engineering.

Josiah McClurg has a strong educational background in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Josiah obtained their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Iowa in 2011. Josiah then pursued higher education and earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Analysis & Planning from the same university in 2012. After that, they attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Power Electronics in 2014. To further deepen their knowledge, Josiah pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Iowa from 2014 to 2017, specializing in the control of energy-aware "Big Data" analytics.
