Deputy Director For Genqa (molecular Genetics) at GenQA (Genomics Quality Assessment)

Becky Treacy currently serves as Deputy Director for GenQA, specializing in external quality assessment for the global genomics community since May 2018. Prior to this role, Becky was a Programme Associate at the PHG Foundation from April 2017 to March 2024, providing scientific and clinical laboratory expertise. From May 2015 to March 2018, Becky led scientific projects at the UK Genetic Testing Network, supporting NHS commissioning efforts. Becky's earlier experience includes serving as Deputy Director of Genetics Laboratories at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from January 2000 to September 2014, where oversight of over 60 genetic tests was a key responsibility. Becky's career in molecular genetics began as a Clinical Scientist at The Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust from September 1995 to January 2000. Becky holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics & Microbiology from The University of Sheffield and a Master's degree in Medical Genetics from Newcastle University.
