Curtis Hinton has been working in the field of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for over 30 years. Curtis is currently the President of Geographic Technologies Group, a company they founded in 1997.
Prior to starting their own company, Curtis worked as the GIS Coordinator for the City of Wilson from 1990 to 1997. Before that, they were a GIS Research Associate for the NC Department of Transportation from 1989 to 1989, where they worked on the department's first GIS implementation. Curtis also interned as a GIS Technician for the USGS in 1988, where they worked on data conversion.
Curtis' first job in the field was as a GIS Analyst for ITRE, where they worked on various GIS and transportation-related projects from 1988 to 1990. Curtis has been a pioneer in the field of GIS, and their work has helped shape the way that GIS is used today.
Curtis Hinton has a BA in GIS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as well as a BA in Psychology. Curtis also has a MA in GIS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In addition, they are certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and by the URBAN AND REGIONAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION as a Geographic Information Services Professional (GIS).
