Tim Barnes

Tim Barnes has extensive experience in geographic information systems and urban planning, currently serving as a Board Member for GEOHuntsville since January 2015 and as GIS Manager for the City of Huntsville since April 1989, managing a team of 14 full-time and three part-time employees. Previously, Tim held roles including Urban Planner III, where responsibilities included overseeing GIS activities for various planning projects, and Urban Planner II, focusing on converting planning records into digital formats. Additional experience includes project management at Huntsville Utilities and as an Adjunct Faculty member at Calhoun Community College teaching World Regional Geography. Tim holds a Master’s degree in Urban Systems Analysis and Planning from The University of Alabama and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Geography from the University of North Alabama.
