Joan Flinch

Joan Flinch is a highly experienced geoscientist currently serving as a Senior Exploration Geoscientist and Geoscience Senior Advisor at GeoPark since August 2023. Previously, Joan worked as an Independent Geoscience and Energy Consultant from August 2021 to November 2023, specializing in oil and gas as well as green geology issues, including geothermal and natural hydrogen. During the tenure at Elsevier from January 2022 to July 2023 as a Senior Geoscience Consultant, Joan contributed significant expertise in various geoscience disciplines. A long-term position at Repsol from January 2004 to June 2021 included roles such as Geoscience Advisor for Exploration Quality and oversight of projects worldwide, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Joan's foundational experience also includes working at TOTAL as a Structural Geologist and as a Consultant for PDVSA Petróleos de Venezuela. Joan holds a Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics from Rice University and multiple degrees from Universitat de Barcelona, emphasizing Structural Geology and Geology/Earth Science.
