Melanie Balog

Melanie Balog serves as the Executive Director of News and Content at George Mason University, overseeing a team that communicates the university's story through various channels and media outreach. With a strong background in strategic communications, Melanie previously held roles at The Post and Courier, including South Editor and Digital Editor, leading coverage of regional politics and managing content distribution across digital platforms. Melanie's extensive journalism experience began at the Northwest Herald as a reporter and news editor. Currently a PhD student in Communication at George Mason University, Melanie also holds a Master of Arts in Writing from Illinois State University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Millikin University.
