Cathy Cox

Cathy Cox is a prominent leader in academia and public service, currently serving as President of Georgia College & State University since October 2021. Prior to this role, Cathy was the Dean of Mercer University School of Law from July 2017 to September 2021. Cathy's extensive experience in the financial sector includes a directorship position at United Community Bank, where responsibilities encompassed serving on various committees such as the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee and the Executive Committee. From 2007 to 2017, Cathy held the presidency at Young Harris College, and previously served as Georgia's Secretary of State from 1999 to 2007. Cathy's legislative career includes serving as a State Representative for four southwest Georgia counties from 1993 to 1996. Before entering public service, Cathy practiced law at Lambert, Floyd & Conger and Hansell & Post. Educational credentials include an A.S. in Agriculture-Horticulture from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, an ABJ in Newspaper/Editorial from the University of Georgia’s Grady College, and a JD from Mercer University School of Law.
