Adam McCallum

Adam McCallum, Ph.D., serves as a Translational Research Advocate in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology since January 2022. Prior to this role, Adam worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Emory University from September 2018 to January 2022, focusing on medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, including lead optimization for therapies targeting chronic Hepatitis B and synthesizing novel nucleoside analogs for antiviral treatments. Adam's earlier experience at Georgia Institute of Technology as a Postdoctoral Research Associate involved developing synthetic ligands and novel fluorophore architectures for biological imaging. Adam's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry from Northern Kentucky University.
