Thomas Kurfess

Thomas Kurfess is a distinguished academic and industry leader in the field of manufacturing and engineering. Currently serving as the Chief Manufacturing Officer and Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology since June 2012, Thomas also holds the HUSCO/Ramirez Distinguished Chair in Fluid Power and Motion Control. Previously, Thomas held the position of Chief Manufacturing Officer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory from January 2019 to January 2023. Thomas's extensive educational background includes multiple degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, with earlier degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
