Rick Anderson is senior production officer of Southern Company Operations’ East Production Group. In this position, he oversees Georgia Power’s diverse generating fleet, including its coal, natural gas, hydro, solar and distributed generation resources. Prior to this role, Anderson was vice president of Technical Services in Southern Company’s Technical and Project Solutions (T&PS) organization where he led the team in providing technical support to customers across the Southern Company system. He began his career with Southern Company in 2001 as an engineer at Georgia Power’s Plant Branch and has worked across several other generation facilities including Plants McDonough, Scherer, Barry, Wansley, Bowen, Miller, and Crist. His experience includes serving as Operations and Maintenance manager at Alabama Power’s Plant Miller and subsequently serving as plant manager at Gulf Power’s Plant Crist. In more recent roles, Anderson has been integral in Georgia Power’s coal combustion residual (CCR) efforts, including helping the company establish formalized controls for Georgia Power’s CCR and ash pond closure program. He has served on multiple community boards, including the Northwest Florida Chapter of Junior Achievement and the Central Gulf Industrial Alliance.
Anderson earned a master’s in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University as well as a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech.
