Dagmawi Hailemariam, P.E. has extensive work experience in the field of electrical engineering, particularly in the areas of transmission operations and substation protection and control. Dagmawi started their career at Southern Company in 2008, where they worked as a Protection and Control Design Engineer. In this role, they were responsible for performing substation protection, controls, and communication engineering, as well as preparing and modifying various electrical drawings and designs. Dagmawi also developed and maintained a complete set of designs for all electrical equipment in a substation.
In 2010, Dagmawi moved on to become a Protection and Control Application Engineer at Southern Company, where they demonstrated excellent working knowledge in substation and transmission line protection. Dagmawi gained solid experience in designing and applying protective relays and control schemes, including electromechanical and microprocessor relays. Dagmawi also had a substantial understanding of three-phase theory, motors, transformers, and generators.
In 2014, Dagmawi joined Georgia Power Company as a Protection and Control Field Service Engineer, and later in 2016, they transitioned to become a Sr. Transmission Operations Engineer at Georgia System Operations Corporation. The details of their roles in these positions are not provided, but they presumably continued to apply their expertise in protection and control engineering.
Dagmawi Hailemariam, P.E. obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they studied from 2004 to 2007.
