Erin Telfer has a diverse range of work experience spanning various roles and industries. Erin started their career as a Research Assistant at The University of Waikato, where they investigated the photodegradation of organic matter. Erin then worked as an Environmental Technician at Newmont Mining Corporation, where they conducted assessments on water and air quality, biodiversity, and noise monitoring. Erin also worked as a Metallurgy Field Technician, investigating the economic viability of dredging materials within tailings dams.

Following this, Erin joined The University of Waikato again, this time as a Hydrology Laboratory Technician and Demonstrator. In this role, they were involved in running and organizing hydrology and geology courses for undergraduate students. Erin taught students various skills related to measuring, analyzing, and modeling surface hydrological processes.

Erin then transitioned into the industry and worked as an Environmental Scientist and GIS Analyst at SMEC Australia Pty Ltd. In this role, they were responsible for analyzing and mapping geographic data, particularly in the groundwater and contamination area. Erin also worked independently as the sole GIS analyst at the company.

Their most recent role was at Geoscience Australia, where they held various positions. Erin started as an Earth Observation Scientist and later became the Assistant Director of International Earth Observation Product Development. Their most recent role at the organization was Assistant Director of Terrestrial Earth Observation Product Development.
