Hayder Amin is a Tenured Research Group Leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), leading the Biohybrid Neuroelectronics (BIONICS) research group since April 2018. The group integrates neuroscience and technology to innovate in biomedical engineering, focusing on the brain's network dynamics in both healthy and diseased states. Prior to this role, Hayder served as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, working on large-scale brain-on-chip platforms for neuropharmacological and disease models, following a postdoctoral research position developing large-scale neural recordings. Hayder's experience includes a visiting scientist role at Janssen Inc. studying multielectrode arrays in Alzheimer's models and a research engineer position at the Max-Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, focusing on microscopy techniques for membrane fusion analysis. Educationally, Hayder holds a Ph.D. in Microtechnology for Neuroelectronics and Neuroscience from the University of Genoa and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from The Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg.
