Matthias Kurz

Matthias Kurz has extensive work experience in the field of occupational health and safety. Matthias currently works at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), where they serve as the Head of Safety Office and Occupational Health and Safety Specialist. Matthias has held this role since July 2022. Prior to their current position, Matthias worked as the Deputy Head of Safety Office and Occupational Health and Safety Specialist at DZNE from May 2013 to June 2022.

Before joining DZNE, Matthias worked at Bonn University. Their roles at the university included being a Visiting Scientist from July 2012 to April 2013, a Junior Research Group Leader from July 2004 to June 2012, and a Research and Teaching Assistant from July 2002 to June 2004.

Matthias Kurz earned their diploma in biochemistry from Ruhr University Bochum, where they studied from 1994 to 1999. Matthias then pursued further education at the University of Münster, where they obtained their Doctorate of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.) in biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology, completing their studies from 1999 to 2004. Prior to their university education, from 1991 to 1994, Matthias Kurz worked as a software engineer at Hoesch AG.
