Head Of Grant Office at German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE)

Uta Strasser has extensive work experience in various roles related to science policy, grant management, and project coordination. Uta is currently working as the Head of the Grant Office at the Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen (DZNE). Uta has been in this role since July 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Head of Science Policy, Grant Office, and Helmholtz Issues at DZNE from February 2011 to July 2022. Before joining DZNE, Uta Strasser worked as the Deputy Head of the Strategy Office at DZNE from May 2010 to February 2011.

Before their time at DZNE, Uta Strasser served as the Director for European Third Country Cooperation at the Internationales Büro des BMBF from January 2008 to April 2010. In this role, they were responsible for science policy and international science and technology cooperation.

Prior to that, Uta Strasser worked at the Projektträger im DLR where they held two different roles. Uta served as the Head of the Project Management Team for the National Genome Research Network (NGFN) from January 2001 to December 2007. In this position, they were responsible for the coordination and management of the interdisciplinary medical genome research network. Prior to that, they worked as a Scientific Officer for Health Research from September 1998 to December 2000. Uta'stasks included the development of funding schemes, evaluation processes for proposals, and project management for health research projects.

Uta Strasser began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Washington University School of Medicine, where they worked from August 1995 to August 1998.

Uta Strasser obtained their education in the field of Biology. Uta started their academic journey in 1985 at the University of Bayreuth, where they completed their Intermediate Diploma in Biology in 1987. Uta then went on to pursue further studies at Heidelberg University from 1988 to 1991, and successfully obtained a Diploma in Biology. Finally, Uta Strasser enrolled at the University of Basel in 1991, where they completed their PhD in Biochemistry in 1995.
