Erhard Rahm

Erhard Rahm heads the chair for databases at the University of Leipzig and is co-director of ScaDS.AI (Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence) Dresden/Leipzig, a center for artificial intelligence and data funded and institutionalized by the federal government and the state of Saxony Science. He studied computer science at the University of Kaiserslautern and earned his doctorate there (1988, 1993). He was a guest scientist at the IBM Research Center (as a postdoc), at Microsoft Research (2000, 2005) and at the A usAustralian National University (ANU). His research in the areas of data management and data integration has been recognized with the renowned "Ten Year Best Paper Award" from the international conference series VLDB and the "Influential Research Award" from the international conference series ICDE . Rahm has been a member of the GI since 1985 and was spokesman for the GI Department of Databases and Information Systems (DBIS) from 2016 to 2021. He is also ( twice) an elected member of the Computer Science Review Board of the German Research Foundation (DFG), a member of the Expert Committee of the National Research Data Infrastructure ( NFDI ) and a member of the Senate Committee on Competitionrb (SAW) of the Leibniz Association.
