Katharina Weitz

Katharina Weitz completed an apprenticeship trained as a state-approved educator and worked in this profession for several years before studying computer science and psychology at the University of Bamberg. During her studies, she did research at the German Aerospace Center in Cologne and at the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits in Erlangen. Since October 2018 she has been working as a research assistant at the Chair for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at the University of Augsburg. Here she is researching ways to make artificial intelligence explainable and transparent for people. In order for the research findings to reach a broad public, in addition to science slams, lectures and workshops, she has already published several books, in which she conveys basic knowledge about computer science and AI to young and old in a clear and playful way. For this commitment, she was awarded the GI Junior Fellowship of the Gesellschaft für Informatik drawn us.
