Marcus Schmidt has a diverse work experience, beginning in 1999 as a Legal Counsel at ZF Lenksysteme GmbH. From 2000 to 2006, they worked as a Director, Senior Project Manager, and Project Manager at the Industrial Investment Council. In 2007, Marcus became the Director of Invest in Germany, where they oversaw operations for four US offices and created a Renewable Energy practice. In 2009, they joined Germany Trade & Invest as the Director of North America. In 2012, they transitioned to the role of Director of Chemicals & Life Sciences, leading a 5-person division. Marcus is currently working at Bundeskanzleramt as part of the Innovation & Industry department. Throughout their career, Marcus has focused on supporting clients in various sectors and collaborating with private sector companies, industry associations, and governmental organizations.

Marcus Schmidt has a diverse educational background in the field of law and international industrial management. Marcus first attended The Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg from 1990 to 1992, where they earned a Master's degree in Law. Marcus then continued their studies at the University of Münster from 1993 to 1996, obtaining a Masters degree in Law. In 1997, Marcus pursued further education at Universitaet Innsbruck and successfully completed their PhD in Law in 2000. Additionally, in 1998 to 1999, they attended Hochschule Esslingen - University of Applied Sciences and acquired an MBA in International Industrial Management.
