Sharon McBain

Sharon McBain is an experienced regulatory affairs professional with a distinguished career spanning over four decades. Currently serving as Vice President and Head of Regulatory at Geron Corporation since July 2019, Sharon is responsible for crafting and implementing global regulatory strategies for the company's products and leading a top-tier regulatory team. Prior to this role, Sharon held key positions at Johnson & Johnson, including Senior Director and Global Regulatory Lead for both Oncology and Immunology, where responsibilities included global regulatory strategy for myeloid malignancies and respiratory assets. Sharon also founded Cooksey Consulting Ltd, providing specialized regulatory consultancy, and served as Director of Development, Regulatory at Biogen Idec, overseeing regulatory direction for products across EU and international markets. Earlier in the career at GlaxoSmithKline, Sharon directed regulatory affairs and played a significant role in establishing a new global submission writing process. Sharon holds a First Class BSc in Applied Biology from the University of London.
