Henna Wang's work experience includes co-founding Gesso, a next-gen audio guide company, in 2018. At Gesso, they developed an audio AR platform for exploring cities and museums. In 2019, Henna joined NEW INC as a member, where they worked on making museum collections more accessible and inclusive through scalable solutions. Henna also collaborated with the Knight Foundation to create a mobile web app and CMS for cultural institutions to create and manage their own official audio guides. Prior to these roles, Henna worked as a consultant at ByHand Consulting from 2014 to 2020, and as a proposals consultant at Phillips in 2017. Henna also held fundraising and partnerships roles at the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women from 2015 to 2016 and served as a research fellow at The Aspen Institute from 2013 to 2014. Henna started their career at the Smithsonian Institution in 2012, working in donor strategy. Henna then worked at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in research and product development roles in 2011. Before that, they were a specialist and antiques appraiser at iGavel Auctions and an assistant in Chinese works of art at Sotheby's in 2010.
Henna Wang has a diverse education history. Henna first pursued their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Economics and Art History at Bucknell University. After completing their undergraduate studies, they enrolled at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) for their Master of Science (MSc) degree in Culture and Society. In addition to their formal education, Henna has also shown an interest in the creative field. Henna studied Brand Strategy and Product Development at Central Saint Martins - University of the Arts London and Fashion/Apparel Design at Parsons School of Design - The New School. Furthermore, they explored their passion for sustainability by studying Sustainability Studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
