Sheila McMahon is currently an advisor at Get Inclusive. Prior to their current position, they served as the director of Sexual Assault Services and Prevention at Brandeis University from November 2013 to August 2017. In this role, they were responsible for designing and disseminating the university's first campus climate survey on sexual violence, managing the IRB, data analysis, and incentive programs for survey completion. Additionally, Sheila served as the inaugural director for a new campus initiative to meet the requirements of the Clery Act and Title IX, which included development, implementation, and evaluation of bystander education trainings for undergraduates, baseline training on sexual violence prevention and Title IX training for graduate students across schools of business, policy, and Arts & Sciences.
Sheila supervised one professional staff member and 13 undergraduate student workers while at Brandeis University. Sheila provided consultation for staff and trainings for graduate student Teaching Assistants regarding their role as Responsible Employees. Sheila established a train-the-trainer program for students to lead peer programs on pro-social bystander intervention in accordance with mandates under the Clery Act and Title IX. Lastly, they provided crisis counseling for sexual assault survivors and other students with related concerns. Sheila coordinated with a campus-wide committee to revise campus policies on student sexual misconduct and review the latest trends in evidence-based practices in higher education to implement changes at Brandeis University through initiatives such as Brandeis Bystander Education and restorative justice options in sexual
Sheila McMahon's educational career began with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Women's Studies from Boston College. Sheila then earned a Master of Divinity with a focus in Liberation Theology and Applied Feminist Ethics from Harvard University. Afterward, they completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work from Rutgers University. In addition to their academic degrees, Sheila McMahon also holds certifications from the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) in Title IX Investigator certification, Boston College in Graduate Certificate in Leadership for Change, and the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling in Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
