Wilma Zijlema is an experienced epidemiologist currently working at GGD Drenthe since October 2022. Prior to this role, Wilma served as a Senior Researcher at the General Practitioners Research Institute from October 2021 to September 2022 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health from May 2016 to October 2021. Wilma's academic journey includes a PhD project at the Universitair Medisch Centrum Groningen focused on the adverse health effects of traffic-related noise and air pollution, alongside earlier positions as an intern and assistant project manager at various organizations. Wilma holds a Master’s Degree in Health Sciences from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and a Bachelor’s Degree from both Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Hanze.
