The origin of GHFL dates back to 1933. GHFL has a presence in over 80 countries across 5 continents with four manufacturing units that house the administrative, manufacturing, and R&D for the production of various products. GHFL manufactures products for, but not limited to automotives, aviation applications, and shipping. Garware Hi-Tech Films Limited was co-promoted by the Chairman and Managing Director, Dr. S.B. Garware, in the year 1957, along with the Founder Chairman Late Mr. Padmabhushan Dr. Bhalchandra (Abasaheb) Garware. The Company has developed in-house technology for polyester films in India and put its first state-of-the-art plant for the manufacturing in the year 1976 at Aurangabad in the state of Maharashtra, India, which was the first of its kind in South-East Asia. The company produces its own raw material, polyester chips, for the production of hi-tech films for a wide range of end applications such as automotive paint protection film, aerospace , shipping, packaging, electrical, shrink film for label application, coloured films for window tint application, sequin, safety and so on.
