Jim Childers

Jim Childers serves as the Musical Director for both Southern Illinois Symphonic Winds and The Jazz Alliance since May 2024. Additionally, Jim presents sessions at notable events, including the 75th Annual Midwest Clinic, where the focus was on enhancing expression through efficient listening. Jim's experience as the Director of Bands at Marion Junior High School from August 2002 to August 2024 has led to the development of a highly respected band program, with repeated invitations to perform at SuperState at the University of Illinois. Prior experience includes directing the band program at Highland High School, where participation grew significantly. Jim holds a Master’s of Music in Music Education from Southern Illinois University, alongside a Bachelor's and Master's in Music Education from Southern Illinois University and Boston University.
