Jose Armesto

Jose Armesto is a platform engineer at Giant Swarm. Jose has over three years of experience working in software engineering, with a focus on developing platforms to speed up deployments.

Armesto began their career at Schibsted Media Group, where they worked as a senior software engineer on the infrastructure platform delivery team. In this role, they were responsible for Continuous Integration (Travis Enterprise), artifact/container storage (Artifactory), bakery (amis and docker containers), and Continuous Delivery to both AWS ASG's and Kubernetes using Spinnaker.

Jose then transitioned to CloudBees, where they worked as a senior software engineer for just under a year. Armesto was responsible for developing a Platform as a Service based on existing open source projects, as well as occasional contributions to open source projects. Jose also set and shared a global mid to long-term vision on what the platform should look like, managed expectations and deadlines with teams, and held stakeholder meetings to further develop the PaaS.

Armesto’s experience in developing platforms has made him an asset at Giant Swarm, where they are continuing to work on Platform as a Service solutions.

Jose Armesto reports to Timo Derstappen, Co-Founder and CTO. They are on a team with Tobias Bradtke - Platform Engineer, Alex Dabija - Kubernetes Platform Architect, and Pau Roselló Van Schoor - Solution Engineer.
