Farid Mirhosseini

Senior R&D Antenna/RF Engineer at Giatec

Farid Mirhosseini has a diverse range of work experience in the field of RF/Antenna engineering. Farid has held positions at various companies, starting with their current role as Lead RF/Antenna Engineer at SKYTRAC. In this role, they have demonstrated leadership skills and successfully led a team in designing and developing antennas and satellite transceiver modules. Farid is proficient in software simulation and has conducted laboratory tests to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Prior to their current role, Farid worked as a Senior R&D Antenna/RF Engineer at Giatec | Smart Construction Solutions. Here, they focused on designing and prototyping antennas for Bluetooth and LoRa bands, as well as conducting research on concrete sensors.

Farid also has experience as an Antenna Design Engineer at Sinclair Technologies, where they managed projects and collaborated with sales and product management teams. Farid has expertise in root cause analysis and design failure mode and effects analysis.

Earlier in their career, Farid served as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Manitoba, where they designed and tested a high-gain microstrip antenna. Farid also worked as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of New Brunswick, conducting research on microwave systems and plasma electron density measurements.

Prior to their academic roles, Farid worked at Ericsson as a Radio Access Network Design Engineer and later as a Technical Instructor. In these positions, they were responsible for network planning and optimization, site installation, and teaching courses on various network planning topics.

Additionally, Farid has worked as an RF/Microwave Design Engineer at the Aerospace Research Institute, where they designed antennas and feed chains for radar systems. Farid began their career as a Research and Development Engineer at Isfahan Optics Industry, where they worked on national projects related to optical filters and surface relief gratings.

Throughout their career, Farid has consistently demonstrated strong technical skills, project management expertise, and a commitment to research and innovation in the field of RF/Antenna engineering.

Farid Mirhosseini obtained a Ph.D. in Electromagnetics and Antenna Design from the University of New Brunswick, where they studied from 2011 to 2016. Farid also pursued a Ph.D. in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering during the same period at the same institution. In terms of additional certifications, Farid completed training in "Required topics for the Customer Service Standard" from AccessForward in August 2019. Farid also obtained certification in "Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps" from the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development in the same month. Farid acquired skills in "PowerPoint 2013: Core Presentation Design and Delivery" through training offered by Mitacs in May 2013. Furthermore, they obtained WHMIS certification from the Workers Health & Safety Centre in July 2021. Farid's educational qualifications also include the completion of the "Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA)" certification from Cisco in February 2010.
