Mike Gibbs has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Mike began their career at Texas Instruments as a Manufacturing Quality Expert from 1979 to 1982. Mike then worked at HRB-Singer as a Leadership Development Manager from 1982 to 1988, where they managed and designed leadership development programs and implemented a corporate strategy. From 1988 to 1993, Mike worked at General Electric as a Manager. In 1994, they joined Success Factor Systems as the VP of Strategic Business Development, leading the development of strategic partnerships. In 1996, Mike worked as an instructor at UC Santa Cruz until 2009. From 1992 to 2017, they served as an Executive Consultant and Seminar Leader at the University of California, Berkeley, leading executive seminars worldwide. In 1993, Mike became the President of Scientia Schools, a high school integrating business and entrepreneurial skills into the curriculum. Mike later became the CEO of Scientia Schools until 2012. Finally, in 2007, Mike became the CEO and Co-founder of Camp BizSmart, a summer business academy for young entrepreneurs.

Mike Gibbs completed their high school education at Greenhill from 1963 to 1967. Mike then pursued their undergraduate and graduate studies at Stephen F. Austin State University, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) and a Master of Arts (MA) degree between the years 1967 and 1973. Following that, Mike Gibbs attended Texas Tech University, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology between the years 1973 and 1980.
