Irene Sweeney has over 25 years of experience in marketing and communications roles. Irene began their career at Penton Media in 1993, where they advanced to become the Advertising Sales Promotions Manager. At Penton Media, Irene was responsible for creating and implementing marketing strategies for American Machinist magazine, as well as managing trade show exhibition booths and national sales meetings.
In 1997, Irene joined Hyland Software, Inc. as the Marketing Manager for Special Events & Promotions. In this role, they oversaw the planning, coordination, and direction of all aspects of tradeshow and exhibition participation. This included event evaluation and selection, booth design and construction, and pre- and post-show publicity.
Since 2007, Irene has been working at GIE Media, Inc. Irene initially served as the Corporate Communications Manager, where they strategized and executed corporate marketing and communications. Irene directed brand management, social media campaigns, media relations, market research, and sales collateral. In 2018, Irene was promoted to the role of Marketing Director at GIE Media, where they lead and inspires the corporate marketing department. Their responsibilities include evaluating and developing marketing strategies, coordinating marketing efforts, and building awareness and positioning for all brands of the company. Irene also directs branding and audience acquisition campaigns for company conferences, trade shows, and major events.
Irene Sweeney has a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from John Carroll University. Irene also participated in a Foreign Exchange program at Univerzita Komenského v Bratislave, where they studied Slovak Language, literature, business, and economics through a language/literature scholarship provided by Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia.
