Andrew Mao

Senior Director of Software Development at Gigamon

Andrew Mao has extensive work experience in software development and management. Andrew started their career at Pivotal Networking, Inc. in 1995, where they worked as an MTS and Software Manager. Andrew was involved in various aspects of edge router development, including system bring up, boot code, real-time kernel, device drivers, diagnostics, and protocol development. Andrew stayed with the company until 1999 when it was acquired by Acer Inc.

After that, Mao joined Cisco in 1999 and held several roles throughout their tenure. Andrew began as a Sr. Software Engineer and eventually became a Technical Leader, Software Manager. In this role, they were an early member of the Cisco Carrier Routing System development team and was responsible for architecting and implementing key forwarding and high availability software features. Andrew managed a team that worked on IOS XR FIB/AIB, QoS, ACL, NetFlow, DHCP, and Lawful Intercept.

In 2010, Mao was promoted to Sr. Manager of Software Development and then to Director of Software Development in 2012 and 2014. Andrew served in these roles until 2015. During their time at Cisco, Mao played a significant role in software development and leadership.

Most recently, Mao has been working at Gigamon since 2016, where they hold the position of Sr. Director of Software Development.

Andrew Mao completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science at the University of Science and Technology of China from 1983 to 1988. Andrew then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Computer Science and Mathematical Sciences at The Johns Hopkins University from 1990 to 1994.
