Gayan De Silva has extensive experience in the insurance industry, starting with Ceylinco Insurance Plc in 2002. Gayan began as a Management Trainee and subsequently held positions as Assistant Sales Manager and Senior Assistant Sales Manager. In 2007, Gayan joined AXA Insurance (Gulf) B.S.C. (c) as a Key Account Manager. Gayan then joined Orient Insurance Company PJSC in 2012 as Vice President. In 2015, they moved to Allianz Insurance Lanka Ltd as a Senior Manager Corporate Sales & Bancassurance. In 2016, they joined Amana Takaful PLC as an Assistant General Manager Sales. Currently, Gayan is the Account Management Director - South Asia at Giift, a position they have held since February 2020.

Gayan De Silva's education history begins with their completion of a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a focus on Marketing, from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2005. Gayan then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wollongong, which they completed between 2009 and 2011.

In 2013, Gayan obtained a Cert CII (Certified Chartered Insurance Institute) from The Chartered Insurance Institute and an ACMA, CGMA (Chartered Management Accountant) from The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Gayan also earned the Cert Chartered Insurance Institute from the Chartered Insurance Institute in December 2013.

Prior to their higher education, Gayan attended Royal College Colombo 7 Sri Lanka from 1986 to 1999, although specific degrees or fields of study from this period are not provided.
