GIM Robotics
David Lopez Lopez has extensive work experience in various roles and industries.
Starting in 2002, they worked as a Software IT&V Engineer at Delphi Automotive Systems, where they were responsible for software and system testing of automotive electronic control units. David ensured quality assurance through the use of CMMI principles, V chart, and Product Development Process tools. David also designed and executed software and system test cases using various methods.
In 2007, David became a System Project Manager at Continental. In this role, they managed projects for automotive control units and collaborated with international engineering design teams in the commercial vehicles division. David also oversaw software releases to customers and manufacturing sites and served as a configuration manager for software and hardware design.
From 2010 to 2017, David held two roles simultaneously. David first worked as a Test Manager at Softability Group Oy, where they led a test team to achieve the required quality level on assigned projects. David also created test plans and documents and executed test cases on UI applications. Additionally, they worked as an Area Sales Manager at ABB, where they conducted sales and marketing activities for ABB Low Voltage High Power Drives products. David also provided technical and commercial training and served as a project manager across all product lifecycle stages.
In 2017, David became a Senior Consultant at Mutual Benefits Engineering AB, where they collaborated with CEVT Powertrain Development Center on projects related to transmission ECU tests for new Geely cars. David conducted white and black box tests, performed HIL testing, and utilized Jenkins and VT systems. David also had experience with automotive communication protocols.
From 2017 to 2021, David worked as a Project Manager at Volvo Group, focusing on powertrain and complete vehicle projects. David managed projects related to features verification and validation, particularly in start cost projects for new engines and rear axles. David utilized Volvo's PDP methodology and applied Agile methods when needed.
Currently, David is a Sales Manager at GIM Robotics, specializing in sales management for autonomous off-road machinery. David'sexpertise includes areas such as generic intelligent machines, autonomous robots, 3D localization, mapping and obstacle detection, sensor fusion, calibration, and synchronization.
David Lopez Lopez began their education at the Culiacan Technology Institute in 1996 and completed their Bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunications in 2001. David then went on to pursue an MSc in Automotive Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology from 2005 to 2007. In 2003 and 2004, David worked as a Systems Engineer 1 at Delphi Automotive Systems, gaining valuable experience in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. In 2009, they furthered their language skills by completing a Finnish Language Level B2 program at Helsinki aikuisopisto. In 2010, David obtained two certificates, one in ISEB/ISTQB from Tieturi and another in Scrum Master, also from Tieturi.

GIM Robotics
GIM Robotics’ full stack automation software for mobile machinery is working in all weather conditions. It enables shared and full autonomy operations and makes the machines more intelligent, precise and efficient. GIM stands for Generic Intelligent Machines. Our competence covers e.g. sensor fusion, real time 3D localization and mapping, traversability analysis, computer vision systems and dynamic object tracking. GIM’s universal 3D mapping and localization solutions are not fixed to any particular environment or sensor technology and have been used for example in mining, construction, agriculture, forestry and marine applications. Our sister company Sensible 4 was founded in 2017 especially for the automotive applications. Proprietary solutions are based on natural infrastructure and no additional infrastructure (e.g. lanes, reflectors or beacons) is needed. We maintain a set of tools that can be utilized to tailor customer specific needs. GIM provides a variety of robotic platforms for prototyping and proof-of-concept development. For example, our logistics platform Speedster, has been tested in retail stores and industrial logistics. Robots accelerate the research and development by enabling completely autonomous data gathering. Autonomous machine operation can be tested in GIM’s precision measured test area in Espoo. The company is based on decades of science. The four founders, including Prof. Aarne Halme, were the key persons from the Automation Technology Laboratory at Helsinki University of Technology (nowadays Aalto) and had more than 100 years of combined experience on field and service robotics research including Academy of Finland’s Centre of Excellence in Generic Intelligent Machines in 2008-2013 together with IHA/TUT. GIM Robotics has been recruiting the best brains in the industry. We have a team of 40+ people with some of the top robotics experts from Finland and beyond.
