Bethlehem Seyoum is a Human Systems Engineer Intern at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in the Air and Missile Defense Department. Mentored by Heather James and Dr. Mei Lau, Bethlehem works in a team environment with the Human Factors and Development teams. Bethlehem completed 250 hours over the summer and continued to work during their 12th-grade academic year. As an Outreach Coordinator at Girls For Business, Bethlehem coordinates virtual business events, recruits mentors, and facilitates networking activities. Bethlehem is a student at St. John's College High School and has obtained certificates in Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing from The Coding School.

Girls For Business is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in the United States. As business education is scarcely touched upon in the classroom, our mission is to empower middle and high school girls who are interested in pursuing future careers in the business field. Composed of an international team of 70+ high school and undergraduate students, Girls For Business has... • Provided free business mentorship and curricula to 120+ mentees. • Published 20+ biweekly newsletters with current business news and career tips. • Hosted 7 virtual panelist events that explore different sectors of business on a monthly basis. • Connected 3,500 teens through community platforms on Slack, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and Twitter. Through its programs, Girls For Business has directly impacted 30+ countries from all over the globe.
