Girls Inc. of Metropolitan Dallas

From a young age, girls are confronted with negative messages about their worth and abilities. They experience gender bias, inequality, and discrimination in their neighborhoods, classrooms, and workplaces. Most girls from low-income families have limited exposure to the opportunities and education they need to overcome barriers, achieve success, and break the cycle of poverty. WHAT WE DO Each year, Girls Inc. Dallas provides over 1,000 underserved girls, ages 6-18, with life-changing experiences and solutions to the unique social, economic and gender barriers they face. Our comprehensive programming, known as The Girls Inc. Experience, builds the skills girls need to succeed in school and in college and careers. WHO WE SERVE Each year, Girls Inc. Dallas serves a diverse population of over 1,000 girls ages 6 to 18 from economically disadvantaged Dallas neighborhoods. Currently, 82% are identified as low-to-moderate income. Over 50% of live in households with annual family incomes of $25,000 or less, while 71% live in households with family incomes of less than $30,000. The girls we serve reflect the diversity of our community: 47% Hispanic, 41% African American, 3% White, 1% Asian, and 8% Other/Unknown. WHERE WE WORK We provide our programs at each of our three campuses and our outreach programs at schools and partner organizations. Our afterschool and summer programs take place at our campuses: Oak Cliff – 75208 South Dallas – 75215 Love Field – 75235 Through our outreach programs, middle and high school girls participate in Girls Inc. programming that address their specific needs through partnerships with area school and community organizations. These programs are presented in one-time workshops or as integrated topics within a classroom curriculum.
