Emily Ong

Emily Ong is the Director of Community Partnerships & Outreach at Girls Who Code. Emily has dedicated their career to working with underserved youth in various capacities. Emily began their career as an intern in the Department of Strengthening Nonprofits at United Way of New York City. There, they assisted with programmatic work and learned about the nonprofit sector. Afterwards, they became a Program Intern and Volunteer Leader at GO Project, where they recruited and managed 800+ Committed & Day of Service Volunteers for the GO School Saturday Program. Emily also recruited and co-managed 110+ high school interns annually for the GO Getter Summer Internship.

In their current role as Director, Community Partnerships & Outreach at Girls Who Code, Emily works to increase access to computer science education for girls from underrepresented communities. Emily does this by building partnerships with organizations that serve girls from these communities and by providing them with the resources they need to teach computer science. Through their work, Emily has helped countless girls develop the skills they need to succeed in the tech industry.

Emily Ong has a Master's Degree in Public and Nonprofit Management and Policy - Management Specialization from NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, a Bachelor's degree in Metropolitan Studies from the Accelerated BA/MPA Program in the Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University, and an Advanced Regents Diploma with Distinction from Mount Sinai High School. Emily also has certification from Cornell University in Change Management Certificate, from National Council for Behavioral Health in Certificate of Completion in Mental Health First Aid USA, and from Scrum Inc. in Scrum Master Certified (SMC).
