Sharlene Douglas-Huriwai

Sharlene Douglas-Huriwai is an experienced research and customer service librarian currently serving as a Research Services Librarian at HB Williams Memorial Library since June 2024, focusing on high-quality information services in research and heritage. Sharlene has been with Gisborne District Council since October 2020, initially as a Customer Service Librarian and advancing to the role of Outreach Coordinator in December 2023. Past roles include Administrative Assistant and Executive Assistant at Te Hui Amorangi ki te Tairawhiti, as well as Library Assistant at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. Sharlene's diverse background also encompasses finance and administration management, tax administration, and event planning. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Information and Library Studies from Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, and a Bachelor of Arts in Event Management from Auckland University of Technology, among other certifications.
