David Slater

David Slater is a seasoned professional in the fields of machine learning and research engineering, currently serving as a Staff Researcher at GitHub Next and formerly as a Staff Machine Learning Engineer for GitHub's Copilot since December 2022. Prior to this role, David held various positions at Two Six Technologies from July 2019 to December 2022, including Senior Principal Research Scientist and Research Director in Machine Learning. Experience at Two Six Labs included roles as Associate Research Director and Lead Research Scientist. Earlier career highlights feature senior research engineering at INVINCEA LABS, cyber systems engineering at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, and internships at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and The Boeing Company. David's academic background comprises a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, both from the University of Washington, where also pursued a Doctor of Philosophy program in the same field.
